Audrey Tang is a Taiwanese free software programmer, who has been described by the media as one of the “ten greats of Taiwanese computing personalities”. She began learning to code at age 12, and by 19, Tang had already held positions in software companies and worked in California’s Silicon Valley as an entrepreneur. In 2016, she was invited to join the Taiwanese Cabinet as Digital Minister. When she first joined the Cabinet, one of her largest tasks was closing the gap between the older and younger generations in Taiwan. Currently, Tang advises governments around the world and has contributed hugely to modernizing Taiwanese democracy and for the success of Taiwan’s COVID-19 prevention and response strategy.
