Overview of the project they are working on right now that includes the impact the project is making.

In response to a lack of student-representation in California’s second largest school-district, shown by student-frustration, equity-issues, and few formal-bodies to speak out, I spent three years working with student and adult leaders to transform the roles of student-voice and representation for over 100,000 students. My work created a formal-committee of students that advises the district, and successfully put a student member on the Board of Education(BOE). Recognizing the importance of student representation across the diverse State of California I in partnership with other Student Board Members founded the California Student Board Member Association. We are a student-led organization of school-district student board members from across California that works together to better represent their constituents, allow for statewide youth advocacy, and provide support in the effort to expand student board members across the state. Our work is allowing us to provide resources for student leaders across the state.

How I will use the stipend to scale
I will use the stipend to create high quality curriculum for Student Board Members, as well as a website that houses these resources.

Why I am excited to join Civics 2030
I am excited to help students in high schools across the nation put students on their local Boards of Education.

My vision for the future of American democracy
I envision a democracy where all people have the ability to safely cast their vote, are excited and prepared to vote, and are equipped to share their opinion on what America should look like.

The kind of superhero I am striving to become
I want to be a leader that listens , understands, is not embarrassed about being wrong, and is willing to do not what is popular, but what will benefit the most people.
